Tim Wu on Network Neutrality

Posted on April 8th, 2010 by admin in internet networking | 11 Comments »

For our 200th episode, we get sorta serious with the subject matter, but dont worry, theres still LOLcats involved. We talk to a very esoteric and smarty-pants guy, Columbia University law school professor Tim Wu (hes hot too! but married) — hes the guy who even the FCC trusts to help them make fair laws about such things as the AT&T and BellSouth merger. Professor Wu is credited with popularizing the concept of network neutrality in his 2003 paper Network Neutrality, Broadband Discrimination. In 2006, he co-authored the book, Who Controls the Internet? Network neutrality is essential to free speech, equal opportunity and economic innovation in America, so if you use the internet — or at least, if you watch on the internet — heres your chance to learn exactly why you should care. Also, after you watch this episode, you can sound super smart at all those parties you go to with your social networking friends. During 2008, Wu served as an adviser to the Barack Obama presidential campaign.

http://DiDiAlcheva.com

This video shows you one way how you can use Facebook – a Social Networking Site for you business no matter if this is a network marketing business or any other kind of business.

With this Social Network Marketing strategy using Facebook you can build stronger relationships with your network marketing prospects and create more business either for your network marketing or your regular type of business.

I read Success magazine the other day – the April/May 2008 Edition and on page 29th there was a very powerful article confirming what Renegade Professional has been teaching about Social Marketing.

(Renegade Professional is a online system that teaches Network Marketers how to build a business on the Internet using Attraction Network Marketing strategies which includes Social Media Marketing strategies. You can register with the free introductory level at http://DiDiAlcheva.com)

The name of the article is A Worlds Audience – How YouTube and Facebook Create Opportunities.

In this video I am showing you how to use Facebook for your Network Marketing business and create a following of raving fans around you.

By using the Update Status tool you can very fast and easily inform your audience of the things you are doing and create more interaction between you and your networking relationships.

This builds a stronger relationship and with time your prospects are more trusting and apt to wanting to work with you and join your Network Marketing opportunity.

I also show you a Firefox (Firefox is a Internet Browser just like Internet Explorer) add-on that is designed for Facebook users and helps you be closer to your Facebook account. This add on gives you ability to quickly update your status and has pop up notifications that tell you when you have a new message or when one of your friends updates their status.

It’s very fun to use and again it keeps you closer to your network marketing friends, prospects, potential clients etc.

If you want to get this Firefox Facebook Add-on you can friend me at http://profile.to/DiDiAlcheva (friend me means add me as a friend) and add a quick message and I can send it to you so you can empower your network marketing business.

My Wired Network and Media Server Configuration

Posted on March 6th, 2010 by admin in networking switch | 16 Comments »

This is how I set up the wired network in my house from a router to a 10/100 switch, and then to another router. The router in the office is a Linksys WRT300N, and the switch is just a standard Linksys 5 port switch. The router in my room is one of those hunted-after Linksys T-Mobile WRT54G-TM routers, running custom DD-WRT firmware dated 07/10/2009. I got the router for 15 dollars.

I am using XBMC for the media server client, and Serv-U for the FTP server. Then, everything is just configured to my liking in terms of port-forwarding, and the like.

If you have a similar need – a media center that’s also a media server, but with detachable/interchangeable storage, and two machines that need to switch between wired and wireless networking but staying in a DMZ – then this is probably the best set up you can use.

Oh, and this was all shot with my iPhone 3GS.
