i want to network my 2 computers. they are both gateways. one is old, weve had it since 2001(upgraded), the other is from 2005. they both have xp.
what i need to know is what to look for, any probs and what are the down falls and what is the upside???

All you will need is a router. Yor modem will get pluged in to router as well as both computers. You can also go wireless. The best routers to look at are Linksys they stand the test of time and very rearly go down. The only down side is you might have to replace the router in about 5 years time when the newer models come out, and they don’t support the old versions anymore.

buy a "cross over" network cable…and then put both computers on the same subnet in the tcp/ip properties…
