    Sure, it’s funny in …
Sure, it’s funny in a lame way. But in another way, Apple’s being deceitful.
After all, the Mac comes from only one vendor; the “PC” from many, not to mention that you can build them yourself from parts. The ad is misleading.
Imagine if the ad was “Hi. I’m Justin Long. And I’m a generic white guy.”
If you were asked, who is the better actor, would the question make sense? No. It’s an absurd comparison. Whatever the quality of Apple’s computers, their ads are dishonest.

Those adds are so stupid… They are made for people to dumb to use a PC, and that’s it (admit it !). Stop trying to make us believe that mac is better than PC because, NO, simpler doesn’t equal better (my NES was simpler than my PS3…)

    “…does Windows have hot corners?”

Not by default. That said, the “Show Desktop” button can’t be missed in 7 considering it is in the very bottom right corner (though it remains a button). I do enjoy using corner triggers provided by Compiz while on Linux distros though.

One should also be able to setup such features with their multi-touch trackpad while on Windows depending on the drivers used. E.g. on my current laptop (SXPS 13) there are drivers to allow control of Flip 3D via trackpad.

  17. duckwithnukes Says:

    …does Windows …
…does Windows have hot corners? They’re certainly time savers because you don’t need to find a button and click on it.
The best part about Expose is the integration with the multitouch trackpads on the MacBook and MacBook Pros. Expose makes using the computer a lot more streamlined.

  18. LordDestros Says:

    “The nice thing…. …
    “The nice thing….”

It’s been like that with Windows for a long time as well (not sure if the “Show Desktop” function had it in Windows 98 though). Click the “Show Desktop” button once to minimize everything and twice to restore everything. In W7 it was merely moved due to the merger of the quick launch bar with the rest of the panel and given a mouse over effect with the introduction of Aero Peek.

  19. duckwithnukes Says:

    The nice thing …
The nice thing about Expose is that if you need to access the desktop, you can do it by simply activating Expose (through a shortcut) and then you can go back to what you are doing without having to click more than two buttons.

  20. LordDestros Says:

    “…not access it?” …
    “…not access it?”
You can access it but that isn’t really thanks to Aero Peek at all as that feature has been present for a long time now (introduced in Windows 98?). Aero Peek’s main function is in window selection on the revised task bar. E.g. if I have 5 Firefox windows open and mouse over the third (of five) thumbnails that appear, Aero Peek will make all windows except that third window transparent (without any window movement/resizing whatsoever). You can view examples here on YouTube.

  21. duckwithnukes Says:

    Wow, that’s useful. …
Wow, that’s useful… you can look at the desktop, but not access it? There generally isn’t much going on on the desktop.

  22. LordDestros Says:

    “Aero Peek makes… …
    “Aero Peek makes….”
Aero Peek doesn’t let the user access the desktop but rather merely view it. The button feature itself which permits access has been present since long before though it has traditionally been part of the quick launch bar (which as you know was merged with the rest of the panel) and hence re-arranged. Aero Peek’s common usage is to “Peek” at an individual window (i.e. make all other windows transparent) without any movement of the window when it’s live preview is selected).

  23. duckwithnukes Says:

    Aero Peek makes the …
Aero Peek makes the windows transparent, letting the user access the desktop. Expose also does this, as I said before.
I’m not sure what you last sentence meant… are you saying that Aero Peek shows the window what it would look like at full size? You said that it shows the windows something…?
Apple is using PC to mean (see previous comments) but not to mean Microsoft. PC is a representative of Microsoft, but ‘he’ is not Microsoft.

  24. LordDestros Says:

    “…Aero Peek and …
    “…Aero Peek and Expose….”
Errm, that’s not Aero Peek’s primary function (or at least I have never actually used that function of it nor do I see why anyone would). Expose’s primary function is to rapidly display all windows a user currently has open (by decreasing window size often) for rapid window switching. Aero Peek on the other hand focuses on showing the window a live preview correlates to at its full size.

  25. LordDestros Says:

    “…’PC’ to refer …
    “…’PC’ to refer to Microsoft…”

Apple is an example of one who does this. “Bean Counter” shows “PC” is representative of Microsoft and their accounting department. “PR Lady” and “Bake Sale” are two more examples which more so refer to MS than anything hardware or software related.

    “My computer runs PC.”
The sad thing is I have IRL.
