what kind of job can I get with just a computer networking diploma?

Does anyone have any knowledge of what kind of job you can get with just a computer networking diploma from Ashworth College online?

Most online college degrees aren’t worth a whole lot – especially if you don’t have any experience to back it up.

Unfortunately they don’t bother telling you that while they are taking your money.

Try checking around temp agencies, and see if you can find something entry-level to bolster your education.

The good thing about the degree is that it can get your foot in the door of some jobs that wouldn’t even consider you otherwise (even if you were actually the best candidate).

(edit: the A+ cert is a good idea – and while it is possible to find a job making 65K right out of the gate, they aren’t exactly easy to find)

You could probably get a job at computer service company like Nerdz or at Best Buy on the Geek Squad. They’ll probably pay you $10 an hour if you’re lucky.

And Kyo, you’re the one who’s full of crap. You can’t make 65K a year with no experience and only an A+ cert. I’m sure the person you’re referring to has years of experience, even if they only have the A+ cert. I’ve been in the IT field for 30 years so get a clue.

That guy is full of crap, if you get COMP TIA certified in networking you can make decent cash. I know people with just a certification in networking making 65k a year.

Depending on the area you’re in, you can probably find a tech support job fairly easily, but as stated by others, you’re not going to make a whole lot of money doing it. As you learn from job experience, you can probably move up in pay scale if you keep learning.

And I must agree that a computer tech certification isn’t going to get you 65K a year when you’re just starting out and have little or no experience.

Unfortunately without experience it’s gonna be a bit tough – experience is king in IT. Although rather than looking for a craptastic job at a shop, check with recruitment agencies (they take a chunk of your money but have a reasonable chance of landing you somewhere with a future), or if you’re feeling confident enough look for a techie position in a small company. Once you’ve got 3-5 years experience places will be willing to take you in as a senior technician or junior admin, but you’ll also start needing to grab more qualifications.
