You don’t have to …
You don’t have to put in the ip address. If they’re connect to the same router, just type in Network and it’s right there.

To find the shared …
To find the shared folders on the network though it is easier just to goto Network places – rather than try and put the computer’s ip in. I tried that on windows xp (he used vista) and it doesn’t work.
