What is the fastest network card and network switch/router that is currently on the market?

Posted on May 15th, 2010 by admin in networking switch | 5 Comments »

For commercial usage. 15 stations connected to one server.

I assume you mean for home use. In that case 2 Gb is the fastest for a switch and 1 Gb for a router. I recommend a wired router or switch, as it will be faster, more reliable, and more secure than wireless. D-Link DGL-4100 10/100/1000Mbps is a good router and D-Link DGS-2208 10/20/100/1000/2000Mbps is a good switch.

i wanna know whether 8port switch can be linked to a 4port router to create a 12 PC network? if it can how?

Posted on May 11th, 2010 by admin in networking switch | 5 Comments »

i have a 4port internet router and a 8port network switch. i want to network 12 computers? how can i network them?
dhcp means?

With the equipment you have you can only network 10 computers as one port in the router and one port in the switch will be taken up by the ethernet cable connecting the router and switch together.

Thats all you need to do.

If you want 12 computers buy a 4 port hub or switch and either connect it to one of the router or 8 port switch ethernet ports. That will allow you 13 computers…..

Does a network switch share a internet connection?

Posted on May 10th, 2010 by admin in networking switch | 4 Comments »

I know routers do, but do switches just make a computer to computer network, or share the connection? And on some switches have a uplink, what is that for?

Hubs are sharing connections but switches no but practically INTERNET connection will be slower if you have more users connected to switch. Uplink on the back of the switch is used as a cascade if you want to connect more switches to one ethernet line.
