http://www.tweaktown.com CES 2010 Yesterday we met with Zac from TRENDnet at their hotel suite here in Las Vegas and they were showing off a full range of their new networking goods. One product that got our interest was the TEW-673GRU 802.11n router that adds in a color LCD network management screen, a couple of 4dbi antennas (usually 2dbi), WPS and more. This router also supports concurrent dual band wireless and has a very reasonable price tag of around $150 USD. Distributed by Tubemogul.

CCNA Router Summarization: Speed Your Network

Posted on June 4th, 2010 by admin in networking router | No Comments »

for full version visit http://www.nhanced.co.uk/free . In large internetworks thousands of network addresses can exist. It is often problematic for routers to maintain this volume of routes in their routing tables. By learning Route summarization you can reduce the number of routes to ensure your network runs faster

3 NetFPGA router Demonstration

Posted on May 31st, 2010 by admin in networking router | No Comments »

The NetFPGA enables researchers and students to build working prototypes of high-speed, hardware-accelerated networking systems. The NetFPGA has been used in the classroom to teach students how to build Gigabit Ethernet (GigE) switches and Internet Protocol (IP) routers that use hardware rather than software to forward packets. The NetFPGA hardware can be used by researchers to prototype new types of clean-slate services for next-generation networks.

A demonstration of NetFPGA routers was presented on February 28, 2008. In this 12-minute video, three NetFPGA routers were set up and high-definition video was streamed across the Gigabit-speed network. All of the packet switching and routing functions were performed in hardware. The Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) routing protocol was run in the Software Component of the Router (SCONE). As shown in the demonstration, OSPF allowed the video to be re-routed across a two-hop network path when the one-hop link was disconnnected. The Java-based Graphical User Interface (GUI) is used to control and monitor the operation of the NetFPGA hardware.

For more information on the NetFPGA, see http://NetFPGA.org/

Set a Wifi Password – D-Link

Posted on May 22nd, 2010 by admin in networking router | 25 Comments »

In this CitronTech video, I will be showing you how to set your wireless settings such as network name, password and more!

Works on: Windows, Mac and Linux.

Have any questions? Ask them in the comments or send me a message! I’ll reply to all of them ASAP.

Link to the routers settings page:
http://192.168.0.1/

If you’re not on the DIR-615 but are on another wireless router from D-Link, your default router IP may be:
http://192.168.0.0/

Some routers such as Linksys have DIFFERENT IP addresses so if you have a different router, Google for “(Router model) IP” and you should find the default IP. You can also look in your internet settings.

Thanks for watching this CitronTech video!

Optimizing wi-fi wireless network adapter and router in Windows 7 for speed

Posted on May 18th, 2010 by admin in networking router | 2 Comments »

Learn how to optimize your Wireless network adpter in Windows 7 for extended range and performance by customizing your “Power options” advance settings for Power management.

All you have to do is pick maximum performance for your Wireless network adapter in advance settings for your power plan.

Also, learn how to tweak your router for extended range, gaming mode, high trasmit mode, security, and positioning your routor, so nothing is blocking its signal. I’m using a trendnet routor, but it should be very similar for other brands as well.

My post on this topic on my blog: http://johnsonyip.com/wordpress/2010/03/09/optimizing-your-windows-7-pc-or-laptop-and-routers-wireless-signal-for-speed-and-range-video/

How long does your computer name stay on the router after youve logged off network?

Posted on May 15th, 2010 by admin in networking router | 1 Comment »

if you log into a network router, does your computer name stay there for a certain amount of time? becus i can see other computers in the network but they arent logged on(they have red x’s) so im just wondering if the router automatically clears a name after its been disconnected for a long time.

A router that is using a DHCP server to assign IP addresses "leases" that IP address to a particular computer for a set period of time. That time is usually accessible in the setup screens for the router
You do not want to set the lease time too short, or the computers on the network will have problems with losing their connection.

Network Lesson 3

Hi RV Jerry here and I’m sharing my networking skills with those whom want to know more about computer networks. I explain networks in a simple form stopping short of confusing you with techinical details. I include some techincal IP numbers that will help you set up a network router. I include routers, hubs, network cameras and computers. Although I have use different brands, I have Linksys for my home network. There are five lessons as of 4/6/09.
